Show Notes:

Pastor Greg Johnson, whose church is hosting the Revoice.us conference, joins us for a very challenging conversation. We hope this hard conversation is a blessing to the Church, and to Greg, who was willing to join us knowing the disagreements. The Revoice.us conference mission statement is “Supporting, encouraging, and empowering gay, lesbian, same-sex-attracted, and other LGBT Christians so they can flourish while observing the historic, Christian doctrine of marriage and sexuality.” We maintain that this mission is unbiblical and represents a pastoral failure to shepherd the people of God.

Revoice.xyz

We created the website Revoice.xyz, and we aimed it at the leadership of the Revoice.us conference. Revoice.xyz has been shared over 250 times on Facebook alone since we released the website last week. Our goal is to demonstrate the inconsistency and pastoral failure of this thinking. We copy-pasted from their conference website, changed a couple nouns, and voila!!

You can stream live from our website here, or you can find our newest episode in the iTunes store and Google store.

To find out more about our partnerships (limited number) and advertising packages, please email us at [email protected]. Finally, the best way you can help us out is to join our club membership!

Upcoming events to note:

1) CALLED Conference July 16th through 20th– a conference that will challenge Christian high school students to become the next generation of cultural leaders, because they are CALLED…

2) Post-College Life Conference August 24th and 25th in Moscow, Idaho. Pastor Toby will be speaking, and we will be doing a live CrossPolitic Show with hip-hop artist Timothy Brindle on August 25th.

*We are also scheduling, as our time allows, one CrossPolitic Live show per quarter. If you want to host a live CP show at your conference or special event, please email us at [email protected].

  1. I am a Christian who has been fighting homosexual temptation for all of my Christian life, and I was very encouraged by your recent conversation with Greg Johnson. The first book I read about homosexuality after becoming a Christian was Wesley Hill’s “Washed and Waiting.” By the grace of God, I did not adopt his terminology of “gay Christian,” but I did adopt some of his assumptions about same-sex attraction. I believed same-sex attraction was not sinful in itself but only when acted upon. I believed seeking heterosexual attraction was not only futile but in some ways may even hinder my pursuit of “holiness.” I did not see effeminacy as a vice, much less as a factor cultivating same-sex attraction. Only after changing churches three years ago and coming under the authority of godly men who lovingly admonished me to repent of effeminacy and cultivate masculinity have I begun to see real changes in my life. Although I still experience same-sex attraction from time to time, those attractions have diminished and I have begun experiencing heterosexual attraction, something I once thought impossible. My mannerisms, ways of speaking, and impulses have taken on more masculine qualities.

You warned Greg that this conference would cause immeasurable harm to Christians struggling with homosexuality, and I have personally experienced this harm. I do not think he and the others associated with this conference are healing wounds lightly. They are not healing wounds at all. They are ensuring that these wounds will never be healed. They are essentially encouraging Christians to make peace with their sin. As Greg plainly told you, they are convincing Christians that same-sex attraction cannot be repented of. They are convincing Christians that effeminacy is a virtue and that anyone who suggests otherwise is arrogant and insensitive. Praise God for your courage to call him and the others to repentance. Each time you rebuked and refuted him, I felt like you were fighting for me. Thank you for your faithfulness to the Bible and to Christ.
